Before I came to Cambridge for my PhD in 2011, I had completed my M.A. in Theoretical Linguistics at University College London (UCL), and B.A. in English at Sun Yat-Sen University.
Subject groups/Research projects
My research interests focus on Second Language Acquisition and Chinese Syntax, particularly in Chinese ellipsis constructions and null arguments.
Current Research My Ph.D. research aims to examine behaviours of Chinese ellipsis constructions in English and Japanese speakers' second language (L2) Chinese grammar, in order to find out to what extent a learner's first language (L1) grammar influences the acquisition of L2 grammar, and whether L2 grammar, especially those involving interfaces can be fully acquired by L2 learners.
