2010-2013 Teaching Fellow, Asian Languages and Cultures Group, National Institute in Education, Nanyang Technological University. Lectured and tutored BA, MA & Post-Graduate Diploma students in modules in Chinese language and literature and their pedagogies.

1999-2010 Teacher, level head & Senior Teacher, teaching Chinese language and literature, Singapore National Junior College

Research Interests

My current research is entitled “Paradigms of Poetics: ‘Meta-Poetics’ between Contemporary Singapore Poetry in Chinese and Other Sinophone Poetics across Geographical, Temporal and Linguistic Borders”.

Wider Research Interests 

Chinese Classical poetry, Modern and contemporary literature including fiction and poetry, Sinophone literatures, Comparative literature, classical Chinese novels, especially the Dream of the Red Chamber, philosophy and cultural studies, structural linguistics, literary criticism, theories and studies, 2nd language acquisition, bilingualism and pedagogy.

Other Professional Activities

Creative writing, calligraphy, art and drawing, design, interior design, travel, photography, and film.
