Biographical Details
Mr Kumar was born and brought up in Delhi. He is fluent in Hindi, Urdu and Bengali. He studied history at Delhi University specialising in Modern Indian History. His MPhil dissertation was on the History of the Indian People's Theatre Association. He taught history to undergraduate students at Delhi University between 1991 and 2002. His interests include Hindi language and literature, Indian culture, cinema, theatre and the media. He is currently engaged in a study of "A social history of Hindi as a modern Indian language in colonial North India, 1850-1900".
