Both Right and Left Handed: Arab Women Talk About Their Lives

Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban has been a professor at Damascus University since 1985. She served as the personal interpreter to the late President Assad of Syria and was the Minister of Expatriates in the Syrian government where she was Director of the Foreign Media Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is now the Political and Media Advisor to President Bashshar Al Assad and an international spokesperson for Syria. In 2005 she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Dr Shaaban’s life story and work were recently made into a feature length documentary by Hamzeh Mystique Films, 'Woman' which won the Golden Palm Award at the Beverly Hills Film Festival 2008.

The evening includes clips from the film 'Woman'.
