About
I am a historian of modern Korea with interest in religious history, family history, and cultural history. Much of my research can also be categorized as history of knowledge as my writings have focused on the diversity of knowledge practices in new religious movements and kinship groups during the colonial period and after. I have additional interest in game studies and use an archival approach to recover past cultures of digital gaming.
I received my PhD from Harvard University and have spent time as postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University before coming to Cambridge.

Teaching and supervision
I welcome enquiries from prospective postgraduate students who are broadly interested in modern Korea (ca. late nineteenth century to present). Projects can be interdisciplinary in nature.
