The University of Cambridge has an international reputation in the study of the Sanskrit grammatical tradition. This continues in the current work of the Faculty which made a leading contribution to the Sanskrit Manuscripts Project. 

Further areas of research cross over with Middle Eastern studies, in particular the influence of Persia in the history of India.
