Language Taster Days

Language Taster Days for Year 12 pupils (or equivalent)

Are you interested in learning a non-European language, either from scratch or post-GCSE? Would you like to gain a deeper understanding of Asia or the Middle East through their history, politics, culture, philosophy, and literature?

Come to one of our Faculty Taster Days to learn more about the languages we offer and find out whether this is the area of study for you (regardless of which subjects you are currently studying). No prior knowledge of an Asian or Middle Eastern language is required.

The Taster Days are free of charge and will give you an excellent opportunity to:

  • Attend language & calligraphy taster sessions
  • Experience a sample lecture
  • Visit the Faculty and hear about the courses we offer
  • Talk to our teaching staff and current students

We welcome registrations from either individuals or groups. Please note that Taster Day places are limited and should be booked for pupils only (not for accompanying adults).

Please apply by 2nd February at the latest.

Find out more about each Department's Taster Day below. For further information please email

Please note that we are unable to provide parking on the Sidgwick Site for Taster Day participants unless you qualify for a Disabled Parking Permit, in which case you should contact the Outreach Administrator well in advance to request one.
