Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies

AMES Taster Days for Year 12 pupils (or equivalent)

Thursdays 14 & 21 February, 10:00am - 3:00pm

Please note that both of these events are now fully booked

Are you interested in learning a non-European language either from scratch or post-GCSE? Would you like to gain a deeper understanding of Asia or the Middle East through their history, politics, culture, philosophy, and literature?

Come to one of our Faculty Taster Days to learn more about the languages we offer and find out whether this is the area of study for you (regardless of which subjects you are currently studying). No prior knowledge of an Asian or Middle Eastern language is required.

The Taster Days are free of charge and will give you the chance to:

- Attend language taster sessions in Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Hebrew, Persian or Hindi.

- Experience a sample lecture in either Middle Eastern Studies or East Asian Studies

- Visit the Faculty and hear about the courses we offer

- Talk to our teaching staff and current students

- Find out more about the Cambridge admissions procedure

- Take a Cambridge College tour

*  A College tour is an optional extra between 3:00-4:00pm immediately following the Taster Day

We welcome registrations from all students in Year 12 or equivalent. Please note that Taster Day places are limited and should be booked for pupils only (not for accompanying adults).

Information session for accompanying adults: An hour-long information/Q&A session will be run separately during the taster day for any accompanying adults interested in attending. Please let us know on the registration form if you have any accompanying adult(s) would like to attend this.

Application deadline: Please apply via our online application form by 6th February at the latest. Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Please note that Taster Day events are usually oversubscribed.
