last modified Jun 17, 2014 12:24 PM

18th - 20th August, 2014

The Department of East Asian Studies, in conjunction with Corpus Christi College, is offering a summer school in Japanese aimed at students with an interest in studying Japanese at university. The summer school will give students an opportunity to immerse themselves in the Cambridge learning experience, with taster classes in Japanese language, society, history, film and literature delivered by experienced teaching staff from the Department of East Asian Studies. There will also be behind-the-scenes tours of Japanese collections contained in the Fitzwilliam Museum and the University Library, and advice on how to apply to study Japanese at Cambridge.

Three meals a day, tuition and accommodation (2 nights) are all free of charge, including a banquet in hall provided. Spaces are limited however to 30 students per course. The course is open to students who are about to enter year 13.

Students who wish to attend the Summer School should be nominated by their schools and write a short (250 word) essay on why they wish to attend. The nominating teacher is asked to provide a short personalised statement in support of the student’s application.  The application form can be downloaded here.

The nominations close on Monday, 23rd June and all applicants will be notified of the outcome by Monday, 7th July.
