Biography: 

Chihab El Khachab is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies and a College Research Associate in King's College. He holds a DPhil in Anthropology from the University of Oxford (2017), and he has been a Junior Research Fellow in Christ Church (Oxford) between 2016 and 2020. His doctoral research consisted in an ethnographic study of the Egyptian film industry, with particular attention to labour dynamics, production practices, and the impact of digital technologies on filmmaking. This research is forthcoming as a book entitled Making Film in Egypt: How Labor, Technology and Mediation Shape the Industry, to be published by the American University in Cairo Press. His current project is a history and ethnography of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.
