Our researchers are leaders in scholarship produced in Arabic Studies, Chinese Studies, Hebrew Studies, Japanese Studies, Korean Studies, and Persian Studies, with many working across these cultures. 

Their internationally recognised work covers a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to history, literature, material culture, linguistics, social anthropology, politics, international relations, and religions of the Middle East and East Asia.

We spearhead the mission to Globalize the Humanities, working across disciplines, by producing cutting-edge research that challenges received knowledge and expands how disciplines are conceptualised. We thrive in a rich intellectual community that includes established academic staff, postdocs, and research affiliates. We are key players and drivers of scholarly networks that connect researchers across the globe.
