SUBJECT MASTERCLASSES
Our Subject Masterclasses offer prospective undergraduate students the opportunity to delve into East Asian and Middle Eastern Studies through engaging university-level sessions led by AMES academics.
The Masterclass experience
Subject Masterclasses are held in both online and in-person formats throughout the year. These sessions introduce students to the languages, cultures, histories, and contemporary issues studied at AMES. By the end of each session, participants leave with a stronger understanding of undergraduate study within the Faculty and student life across the University.

Conversations with current students and academics
Questions about applications and studying at Cambridge
Who should attend?
We welcome registration for our subject masterclasses from:
Year 12 students (or equivalent)
Prospective undergraduate applicants
Students interested in languages, humanities and global studies
Previous masterclasses
AMES Subject Masterclasses have introduced students to a variety of themes and approaches studied across the Faculty. Our most recent Masterclass, held on 6 May 2026, featured sessions led by Professor Tina Phillips, Professor Laura Moretti, coordinated by Dr Ling Zhang.
