The Japanese Studies section celebrated 75 Years of Japanese Studies at Cambridge on Friday 10 May at an evening reception with alumni, students and supporters

In a commemorative event honoring 75 years of Japanese Studies at the University of Cambridge, the Japanese Studies section hosted an evening reception at London's British Academy Building. Attended by around 90 guests, including alumni and alumnae, corporate sponsors, students, and staff, the gathering exemplified the fruitful collaboration between academia and industry. It was a real pleasure to reconnect with so many of our former students again. Among our corporate sponsors we were delighted to welcome executives from the Mitsubishi Group companies, and representatives form our Japan and the World Scholarship partners NGA, Quick Co and the Pan Asian Association. We were also honoured to welcome The Japanese ambassador to the UK, Ambassador Hajime Hayashi, who delivered a notable speech, emphasising the significance of cultural exchange and academic partnership. Amidst conversations and toasts, the event provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the longstanding legacy of scholarly achievement and cultural understanding.
