Professor Roel Sterckx Delivers Lectures in Taipei and Hong Kong
Professor Roel Sterckx, Joseph Needham Professor of Chinese History, Science and Civilization at the University of Cambridge, recently held prominent speaking engagements in Asia as part of his ongoing research and outreach in Chinese history and culture.
As the 2025 holder of the Lo Chia-luen International Sinology Chair at National Chengchi University (NCCU), Taipei, Professor Sterckx delivered a lecture series titled “The Natural World in Early China: A Cultural and Political Ecology.”
In addition, Professor Sterckx gave the 15th Joseph Needham Memorial Lecture at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The event also marked the establishment of the Joseph Needham Professorship in Science and Civilisation at PolyU.
