Eliezer Ben-Yehuda (1858 - 1922) was a Hebrew lexicographer and newspaper editor. Born in Belarus, he emigrated to Palestine and was a driving force in the revival of Hebrew as a vernacular language. In this photo, taken in 1912, he is show working on his Hebrew dictionary.
