Discussion and Readings with the author, Rana Haddad

MES Public Talks Seminar event run in conjunction with the Ahbab Festival

Get ready for Valentine’s Day with Syrian author Rana Haddad’s magical, and entirely unpredictable, celebration of love – passionate, ideal and unexpected, The Unexpected Love Objects of Dunya Noor (2018). Taking place in fin de siècle Syria, between Latakia and Aleppo, the novel offers a bitingly funny portrait of life under the Assad regime, and the struggles of three young people to find their way through it, to one another.

The event will feature an introduction to the novel, readings and a discussion between the author and University Lecturer in Modern Arabic Literature, Dr Charis Olszok.

Copies of the novel will be on sale.
