The Heisei Period and Japan's History Issue

 

Miura Toshiaki

 

Toshiaki Miura is Political and Diplomatic Correspondent of the Asahi Shimbun. He joined the Asahi Shimbun in 1984. After working for the political news department and as the paper’s Washington Correspondent, Mr. Miura was appointed editorial writer in charge of politics and diplomacy. Later, he served as Editor-in Chief of GLOBE, a bimonthly feature and analysis section of the Asahi Shimbun covering global issues published on the first and third Sundays. Between August 2009 and July 2010, he served as a research associate of the Program on the US-Japan Relations at Harvard University. He was commentator of TV Asahi’s news program called Hodo Station from April 2011 to March 2013. Mr. Miura is the author of Busshuno Amerika (America under the Bush Administration), published in Japanese by Iwanami Shoten I 2003. He also co-authored Doumei Hanseiki (Fifty Years of U.S.-Japan Alliance) , and Rekishi to Mukiau 1,2 (Facing History Part1 & Part 2),all published by the Asahi Shimbun in 2001, 2006 and 2007 respectively. Mr. Miura graduated from Waseda University with B.A. in political science in 1982, and in 1984 he received his Master’s degree in public administration from the International Christian University, Tokyo.
