There are two pathways:
Middle Eastern Studies (single Langauge or two Middle Eastern Languages)
Middle Eastern Language with a Modern (European) Language from the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics
While the European Language part is organised by MMLL, and mostly follows their regulations, both above pathways are part of the AMES Tripos, and some paper choices and regulations might differ slightly between MES-MML students and students studying the Modern Languages Tripos at MMLL.
Please note that the papers available to you will depend on the course you are studying, and that they may be subject to change. There may also be other papers available to borrow from other Faculties.
Part 1A
Please note that Persian cannot be offered as an only Langauge at Part IA. It has to be combined with Arabic, Hebrew, or a Modern Language.

Students can start a second MES Language from scratch at IB (MES1, MES3, MES4 or 5), but please ntoe that no student can offer more than two Languages, no matter if Middle Eastern or European.
