The BIAJS Book Prize panel states:
“This book is an impressive piece of research in establishing the antiquity of the Tiberian reading tradition as far back as the Second Temple period. It makes a significant contribution in that it shows that the Tiberian tradition is much earlier than previously assumed and not a late innovation, which in turn highlights the need for its reconsideration for our understanding of the biblical text. The volume considers theologically motivated developments as well as developments driven my linguistic evolution. At the same time this is not presented simplistically as a monolithic tradition but a complex multi-layered development.”
