Spearheaded by PhD students Peter Han (Korean Studies, FAMES) and Geonyoung Kim (Heritage Studies, Department of Archaeology), the inaugural Cambridge Korean Studies Graduate Workshop brought together scholars and students from diverse disciplines across Cambridge who share research interests related to Korea.

Dr Nuri Kim opened the workshop with welcoming remarks, which were followed by four different sessions: Cold War in the Korean Peninsula, Identities in Contemporary South Korea, Colonialism and its Legacies in Korea and Politics and International Relations. Thirteen graduate students from the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Department of Archaeology, Department of Sociology, Department of Social Anthropology, and Centre for Gender Studies showcased their ongoing research on Korea. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to discover rich resources available at the Cambridge University Library's Korean collection through an info session led by Dr Seulbi Lee.

This workshop not only fostered vibrant intellectual exchange among all participants but also laid a solid foundation for future collaborations and advancements in Korea-related interdisciplinary research at Cambridge.

This event was co-sponsored by the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and the Researcher-led Events Scheme of the University of Cambridge.
