In the 10th and 11th centuries the Karaite Jews wrote Hebrew Bible manuscripts transcribed into Arabic letters, due to convergence to Islamic culture. These are an important source for our knowledge of pronunciation traditions of Hebrew. This project, which is nearing completion, involves preparing a detailed description and anaylsis of a corpus of such transcriptions that is in the collection of the British Library. The project will result in the publication of a book and a variety of articles.

Contributions to the project have been made by Dr. Samuel Blapp (University of Zurich) and Dr. Nadia Vidro (former Ph.D. student), University College London (Affiliated Researcher).
