A Reading and Discussion with Esther Dischereit

All are warmly invited to the annual collaboration of the German Graduate Research Seminar and Section Research Colloquium, who are joining together this Lent term to welcome the distinguished writer Esther Dischereit to Cambridge for a reading and discussion (in English) about her current exhibition 'Who was Fritz Kittel? A German Railway Worker Decides, 1933–2022'. In 1944 and 1945, Kittel helped hide Dischereit’s mother and sister, who as Jews were persecuted by the Gestapo and threatened with death in Germany under National Socialism. They were liberated by American troops in 1945. Dischereit will be talking about her search for the family of the rescuer. This very special event, generously supported by the Schröder Fund, will take place at 5pm on Monday 5 February 2024 in the Webb Library at Jesus College.
